San Francisco is more than just a tech hub—it's a gaming haven, home to iconic studios like Zynga, Niantic Labs, Kabam, and Glu Mobile. So it felt just right for Gamesforum to bring their gaming conference to the SOMA neighborhood of San Francisco on October 22nd and 23rd, 2024. Our team at Appier was thrilled to be part of this event, reconnecting with friends, meeting new partners, and sharing our latest insights in mobile advertising with the vibrant mobile gaming community. Here are some of the highlights from this small yet impactful gathering.
The venue for Gamesforum 2024 was the second floor of the Marriott Marquis San Francisco, creating a perfect space for the 300+ attendees to mingle, connect, and exchange ideas. Appier had the privilege of sponsoring the event as a Bronze Sponsor, complete with our own booth where we showcased some of our recent data insights.
Our focus? Sharing key data that speaks directly to the needs of game developers and marketers. We dug into the differences between in-app purchase (IAP) users and non-IAP users across various game genres—think casual, puzzle, merge, RPG, tower defense, and social casino. We also shared insights into which ad inventories are most effective for acquiring those valuable IAP users, and how AI is a game-changer in making real-time decisions for user acquisition.
Day one of the conference featured our very own Fiona Lin Ferrier, Head of Strategic Accounts at Appier, in the panel session titled "Data & Measurement in 2024: The Future of Mobile UA." Fiona brought invaluable insights to the discussion, spotlighting the role of AI in optimizing mobile user acquisition. Here are some key takeaways from her talk:
One of the most rewarding parts of Gamesforum was outside the conference hall—over dinner. We had the opportunity to sit down with 15 mobile leaders from some of the top companies globally, who happened to be in San Francisco that week.
We shared insights, debated ideas, and had a lot of laughs over a fantastic meal. These genuine, unscripted conversations are often the best part of events like these. They're a reminder that the heart of our industry is about people—and there's nothing quite like breaking bread together to build those real, lasting relationships.
Gamesforum San Francisco 2024 might have been a smaller event, but it packed a punch. Whether it was the engaging panel discussions, the meaningful one-on-one conversations at our booth, or the candid exchanges over dinner, we left feeling energized and more connected to the mobile gaming community than ever.
We're looking forward to seeing where these conversations take us next—and we're already counting down to the next Gamesforum. Until then, let's keep pushing the boundaries of what's possible in mobile gaming.
